Rahul Gandhi Nomination submitted To Succeed Sonia Gandhi As Congress President


NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi became vice president of the Congress in January 2013.He has submitted his candidacy today to take the next president of the conference at the party headquarters in New Delhi.

The top party leaders were present, more than 90 sets of nomination papers were submitted in support of Rahul Gandhi’s candidacy. Once elected, he will take over as president of his mother’s Congress and the current party leader Sonia Gandhi.

Six key ministers – Punjab Amarinder Singh, Siddaramaiah Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh of Virbhadra Singh, Territory of Pondicherry V. Narayanasamy, Mukul Sangma of Meghalaya and Lal Thanhawla of Mizoram – were present when more than 90 sets of nomination papers were submitted by Several leaders extend support to Rahul Gandhi candidacy.

The Congress chief leaders, senior leaders, and Congressional Pradesh representatives were present at the party’s central office to support Rahul Gandhi before his long-awaited ascent.

Rahul Gandhi reached the party headquarters at around 10:45 am to submit his candidacy. He signed a series of nomination papers for the returning officer. Apart from the heads of state and territory of the Union has senior leaders within the Congress or CWC group, including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, AK Antony, Ahmed Patel and Ghulam Nabi Azad submitted different sets of documents nominations.

Since Rahul Gandhi, in all probability the only candidate would be the fight, he would be appointed tomorrow the next head of Congress after verification of nominations. He will succeed his mother Sonia Gandhi, the party’s oldest party leader who has led since 1998.
