Padmavati Film Makers Say Release May Be Shifted To 2018-Sources

The Padmavati film is only released next year, as producers put their plans on hold during indestructible protests in different states by Rajput groups.

A film Rs 190 crores based on an epic poem is pending, reported sources to NDTV about it.

The film was originally scheduled for December 1, but producers had postponed its release. A slowdown was inevitable because of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (Central Board of Film Certification), popularly banned the censorship commission, the liquidation of the film and said the paperwork was incomplete.

Rajput groups have called for the ban on Sanjay’s Leela Bhansali costume drama with Deepika Padukone in the lead, claiming that their legendary 13th-century queen has been denigrated by filmmakers.

Many politicians who cut the party lines demanded a ban on the film.

Large demonstrations took place in various cities, including Chittor in Rajasthan, where Padmini, Queen Rajput, lived.

Deepika Padukone and her family received security threats after recently announced by Chief Haryana BJP.

Rajput Sena Karni, who is the vanguard of the protests, said that Deepika Padukone will punish the way Lakshman’s sister Ravana Surpanakha punished in the epic of Ramayana – by cutting off her nose.
